Jessica Schechter is an NYU graduate and has an MFA in Directing from the Actors Studio Drama School at PACE University. She has a Bachelors degree in Educational Theatre and a double minor in Dramatic Literature and Studio Art.  She is a certified theatre teacher in New York State and has been acting, directing, and running drama programs for over ten years. She is currently an acting and speech coach for people of all ages throughout the city.

Jessica’s Directing credits include:  Here We Are,The Informer,The Third Wave, Grunions, Once on this Island Jr.,The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, I Never Saw Another Butterfly, A…My Name is Alice, The Little Mermaid (A special needs integrated production), and original devised productions of Breaking the Fourth Wall, The Silent Letters, New Beginnings, Calling to Heaven,Through My Reflection and Division of Faith.

Jessica is a professional Stand Up Comedian and has performed all over New York including Stand Up NY, Caroline’s, YU’s Last Comic Standing, and the Broadway Comedy Club.  Jessica is passionate about fostering the creative voices of young people through process drama and collaborative performance. She taught theatre to professional actors at the Professional Performing Arts School and served as the founder of the theatre department in a middle school in the South Bronx.
